Worldwide Festival Sète 2019

as time flies and the summers pass us by it is with even more excitement that I sit here to stew over the 2019 cuvee

if you count the pre gig on thursday 27 we are now officially celebrating a massive 9 days.. getting close to Ghent who do it for 10 days off!

which leads me to my Belgian commanding officer Lefto who as always will be by my side and headlining the second Friday session as part of a wildly lit live lineup in the theatre featuring just added: Andy Votel's specially curated Sunset Mass featuring a heap of special guests (including Graham Massey), James Brandon Lewis (heavy NY jazz) and Kokoko (unmissable Congalese party starters!).. this is quite frankly what the festival is all about… one stage one world one crowd!

I spend the whole year pretty much preparing the WW… daily phone calls with Ivan stewing over the DJs and Live options and finally coming up with a close to full line up by around March.

This year, with the We Out Here festival debuting in August as well as the second Ricci (Catania) event in September I was very keen not to double up many artists. In fact I think its only The Comet is Coming who are appearing twice!

as always the trio of venues will be splendidly set up for us to enjoy our annual fix… the Paul Valery , La Ola and Le Theatre de la Mer are all ready and waiting.

I always get asked what night I’m looking forward to the most… well this year it has to be the Tuesday with Airto and Flora Purim who are back together again after 5 years off… I spent so many nights watching this legendary pair from Brasil over the years … they have become friends and their music never ceases to amaze and surprise me…and to have them alongside the brilliant Boogarins plus 2 incredible selectors Koze and Truby should make it an unforgettable night.
